Default Whats the best MAF / TB combo?

Silly question, I know. But I see people on hear with 90mm MAF and 70mm TB's (Blacksnake) I was thinking of going with a 73mm MAF and 75mm TB. I am going to be reconditioning the block this winter as well as bore and install a 331 stroker kit. I plan on a KB 2v or 3v...I want that available 18 psi of boost!!!

Will the 73 MAF and 75 TB suffice with the addition of a h/c/i and blower later??
Probably not a big deal...if worse comes to worse I can bore the TB and MAF as well, right?

you'll need to go with a larger combo than that for a s/c and stroker kit... 90mm MAF and 75mm TB, the TB should be the same size as the port on your intake so that you dont loose air velocity, if you go larger your creating interference from the lip created, people blend them together, but i'd just get the same size for max airflow. And the MAF can be as big as you want but always should be larger than the TB or it becomes a bottleneck, just get it cal'd to the injectors your going to run

The TB should not be larger than the opening on your intake, but it doesn't have to be the same size. Smaller won't hurt it. Depending on the blower application, a 70-75mm TB and a 80mm MAF should be fine. You can go bigger, but you might check in the boost forum to see what they recommend.

I thought the same thing and went 73 MAF and 70 TB.

That's with a 5 psi blower.

You CANNOT bore out the MAF or the TB. Well, I guess physically one could, but it would not be a good idea.

The airflow calculations in the computer will be challenged with all the other mods. You won't want to mess with changing the diameter of the MAF.

i was talking about the intake being bored out and after all those mods wouldnt he get it dyno tuned and have them burn a chip for his setup?

My comments were for the original poster, as he mentioned boring out the TB and MAF.

I never assume that a custom tune will be done, onless stated otherwise.
Some folks have done very well with out custom tunes.

Even if a custom tune is done, I still don't think boring the TB and MAF is a good idea. In the old days they did this quit often, but that was only because there were no other alternatives on the market.
