yeah but there are other ways, its never good to scratch your car's paint, esp. on a dark colored car since they show everything

honestly i was watching overhaulin one night and they helpful hints on during a commerical and they used, dont laugh, PEANUT BUTTER they actually removed tar off the car

put a rag over the spot, pour near boiling water on it and let it sit 10 min. it will wipe right off.
