I dont know what is on ours but carfax says its been rolld over 2 times and Its currently setting at ~187,000. For all I know that thing could have nearly 500,000 miles on it haha. OH well it still runs strong just smokes a little (fixing that this winter).
ur at 287,000 (if the speedometer still works)

engine could have been replaced inbetween that time with an OEM.

How much oil is the car using? Mine uses a quart per 1k or so. Runs stronger than other Mustangs I've driven. It doesn't smoke or foul plugs...it just makes oil disappear. I have no plans on rebuilding it unless it starts burning more oil, or exhibiting symptoms of some sort.

I'll just be driving and the check oil light will come on. I check it and it almost doesnt read on the stick. It does it faster if i drive hard, but its usually within 5-800 miles it will be considerably lower. It doesnt smoke, but my friend was behind me and said when i get on it theres like a slight haze coming out of the exhaust. But nothing crazy. It still starts, idles, and pulls fine. It also doesnt foul the plugs they look fine.

My 85 has 143k on it. Runs great, uses about a 1/2 quart every 1k miles or so. But both the front and rear mains leak a little. I have no records of it, but I suspect the motor may have been apart at some point. It seems to pull harder than the 54k 86 I had years ago and it sure has a lumpy idle. Gotta get it to the track and see what it runs. Knowing me it's probably got a vacuum leak causing the rough idle and it's a 15 second car. Perhaps i'm just amazed at the power after driving pickup trucks for so long.
