Default Testing a alternator?

Just wondering how to test a PA-Performance alternator..Just because it blew the fusible link leading from the the starter soleniod to the alternator...We took it to the shop had it tested and they said it was powering like it should. but i think it is shorted some where. So do you guys know how to check for a short in the alternators? Sorry about the grammer.
