Considering buying an '86 5.0...what to look for?

RE: Considering buying an '86 5.0...what to look for?
Well, it's an LX, so it doesn't have power windows or locks. It doesn't smoke, but it did smell like it was running rich. I mean, you could smell it in the cabin through the a/c vents. He's not sure why it's doing that. He also told me that the car only gets around 18mpg on the highway, which really surprised me. I was expecting something in the neighborhood of 21-25. I will definitely check the floor pans though.
I'm pretty sure that if I got this car, I'd be spending money right away on a short shifter and clutch quadrant kit. I mean, it didn't shift all that bad, but it was hard to find 3rd, and the throws are so unbelievably long. It also wouldn't go into gear unless the clutch was completely on the floor...I don't mean close to the floor, but ON the floor. I'm not used to such a long clutch push.
What's out there as far as suspension upgrades go? The first thing I'm going to do to this car (after a tuneup naturally) is try to stiffen the chassis a bit...then eventually I'm going to look at upgrading the sway bars and bushings, and getting coilovers. Power upgrades come after that. (I guess I'm not like most Mustang owners, huh?)

ORIGINAL: Twister
damn, it looks good.
OK, the downside, the heads suck at top end, great off the line, but hey, that is fixable with some money. I have an 86 with 312K on it, the orrigional engine went 237K. As for the wheels, they gor for about $600-1000 for the set, keep them! There are a few clubs in CO, and a few 4 eyed guys there too, check out www.foureyedpride.com I say buy the car, it is unique
