Anyone ever changed door hinge pins?
I got a hinge pin and bushing kit for my car, and went to install them last night. Looked pretty simple. Put the bottom of the door on a jack with a chunk of 2x4 on top, and punched out the bottom pin, no problem. Then I moved on to the top pin. It's mushroomed over on both ends. So I figure i'll drill the top head off and punch it through the bottom. Well, I got about 2/3 of the head off, and then ran out of room for thr drill to work. I tried to chisel off the rest, but I started to make a mess so I stopped. It would be nice if these were bolt on hinges. Does anyone know an easy way to change these things?

I changed mine out, but didn't run into the problem you are describing. Both pins should come out by lifting them up. I put a jack under my door like you did, then just had to do some wiggling by grabbing the bottom rear edge of the door and lifting and lowering while pulling up on the pin. Then I pulled the door out from the hinge mounted to the car, greased and installed the bushings, realigned the door and car hinges, and installed the new pins. Then I checked my striker bolt to make sure it was aligning correctly with the door at its new height.

If you have a pair of bolt cutter use them. If not take the fender off and use the dill or a dremal tool. The best way to change them period is witht he fender off because you can change them one at a time and not have to worry with door alignment or supporting the door.

they can be fun the first couple of times, now i just hit them with the torch and cut them in half. the $12 makes a world of difference every time you get in your car. you never really notice the door sagging untill you fix it.
