Ive got a 03 gt that i want to remain my daily driver but i have been looking for a project car i basically want to build it into a 12 second or so street/strip car i also want a project car to gain experience working on mustangs i definently want a mustang 5.0 i was considering an early eighties model 82-86 because i noticed they go for alot cheaper im looking for a car for under $1000 i dont care what it looks like as long as it isnt too rusted out and i plan on replacing the engine anyway what should i look for are the 82-86's decent project cars? im open to suggestions about what i should look into getting thanks

I would try to find notch in those years, carbed, no 'puter, real easy to work with.
For engine use '87 or later block...
Get all the weight off the car, ditch all B.S. street stuff and then build mild 5.0, easy 12's if the suspension is done right........

tinman is right on. get an 85-86 notch and switch the front end with an 87 and ^. ( i hate the 4 eyes sorry guys) this car will be cheap and with a carb setup you'll make alot of power.

well i have an 88 gt and its efi. im asking 2,500 but ill go down to 2,000 but im swapping hoods & radios.

yea i was definently wanting to go carbed and about miatas my dad seriously wants me to drop a 302 in a miata lol yea i planned to gut it no a/c etc... basically a race car werent the 86's fuel injected

I've read that the FOX body 'stangs have around 135# of sound deadener in them. I know from my car there is lotsa weight that can come out.......

yea ive been looking around at early eighties models ive got a 5.0 block out of a 94 bronco i can use for free so ill prolly stick w/the carb
