it may be 280 hp at the motor but even with only a 18% power loss (manuals are close to this) you will still lose 50 hp to the drive train.

generally its 8hp per pound on a centrifical supercharger. 11 hp per pound on roots type blower do to the increased displacment. turbos can be around 21-22 hp per pound due to the lack parasatic loss that a supercharger creates. its also based on intake restriction, a more efficent motor will make less boost but more power per pound. stock mustangs heads and intake are terriable and this is why you wont see such high numbers. if you look around you will see motors with 10- 11 psi barely making 310 at the wheels

you can make 300 rwhp on a 5.0 with a set of afr-165's, track heat intake, and 1.7 rockers on the stock cam. its cheaper than a blower

yes unless the car is setup for the track and the driver is flawless. the srt-4 is rated at 214hp, but real world wheel horsepower has been found to be around 240. its nearly the same power as a blown mustang, but weighs 600 pounds less. to bad they dont make a neon srt-4 anymore (or a neon).

now the caliber has replaced it. its heavier (still 200-300 lighter than a stang) but makes 300hp and gets 22/26 for millage. hell you could get one with 0% interest with dodges current promotion.
