gauges(a/f)

RE: gauges(a/f)
that gauge is a waste of money. autometer makes great gauges but any narrow band o2 gauge is worthless. the narrow band o2's jump around constantly so you will never know what your running. i have a digital read out for both my o2's (left and right) on my PMS display and they will jump from .00 up to 1v constatly while my wide band stays at a constant 14.4 at idle. thats just how narrow band was designed to work. its the same way when your driving. either buy a wide band o2 gauge which means you have to drill and weld on your exhaust (before the cats if you run them) so you can install a stand alone sensor that is completely unrelated to the stock ones or dont bother buying a a/f gauge at all

RE: gauges(a/f)
I wouldn't say they are a complete waste of money. I have one. No, they will not let you see what a/f really is, but what it will do is let you know if you're engine goes lean or rich and stays there. It has alerted me a couple of times there was a problem. You have to know how to interpret it, but yeah it's a light show for the most part. Sure, I'd love to buy a wideband, but the extra cheese just ain't in the budget right now. It is def on the list, but not right now.

RE: gauges(a/f)
i was talking to a coworker yesterday, he said there isnt a hole lot of point getting my car tuned because it only can have one setting or soemthing llike that. i guess i may be misinterpriting one of you to but by tuned you mean dyno tuned?

RE: gauges(a/f)
It should be run on the dyno, w/ a/f hooked up so when they hit the bottle, they can see what it's running mixture wise. Depending on the outcome will determine what steps you have to take next.
