the problem with n2o is that you dont always use it. you can go wot without using the n2o so for max performance it would be nice to have a tune for when not on n2o and a nitrous tune. i think what your coworker may have been trying to say is that if you get a custom chip for the n2o, your always running a n2o tune even if you dont spray. thats the beauty of a flip chip or running an EMS that holds more then one tune.

If you are going to spray, you first need to have a way to adjust timing. Timing retard is more important to prevent "KNOCK/PING" whatever you call it then AFR. Spend money and get LM-1 so that you can log.... Who has time to drive WOT and look at the gauages.... 2nd is the AFR, you need to reduce the injetor cycle but not necessarily immediately.... Well, that is at least what I used to do in IMPORTS tuning (RICER you may call it)... If money is a concern for now, I would get the EGT gauage first... It is cheaper than LM-1 and will serve purpose of monitoring if AFR is lean....

thats not the best way to tune for n2o but you can do it. if you do it that way, youve just taken away timing from the entire rpm band including when you just cruzing around. with a chip you can run normal timing or even advanced timing for the base and use the computer to remove the timing.
