car wouldnt start today
my 87 gt has been sitting for about 3 weeks, just been to busy to take it and i have another vehicle for a daily driver. so i tunred the key to the "on" position and the instrument panel below all the gauges, u know where the gas light comes on when your low on gas etc, well that all lite up like usual but when i turned it to start, it cranked for about like 1 tenth of a second. so i turned it off and tried it again, same thing the lights on the panel came on and when i turned it over it just made that clicking noise and then the alarm went off for like 2 seconds and shut off. the third time the panel lite up again but when i turned it over there was nothing at all, no clicking or nothing. i cant boost it right now cause my wife is out with my truck. So im thinking its just the battery. its been sitting for about 3 weeks, ive had it since april and only drive it on the weekend and even when i drive it its not very far because im waiting to get it tuned and a chip installed cause the a/f is off and runs rough sometimes. so again do u guys think that the battery is dead from sitting so much and when its driven its not running for that long?. im pretty illiterate when it comes to mechanical stuff and i know that to you guys this is a pretty stupid question.
Thanks in advance for you input

Well I certainly don't think a battery should or ever will die within 3weeks if it is a good battey. Perhaps you have an electrical draw.
Option #2, your connection on your ingnition solenoid might not be tight, poor connection.
So if you want to fix it, get a vm and set it to amp (10 or 20), take off the negative connector attached to the pole of the battery and put the vm between it. See if there is any amps, if not it is your alternator or battery that is the culperate most likely.

you'd be suprised how many old people tow their cadillacs in with a no start condition because the battery is dead. they can sulfate if you let em sit for a long time, but i agree it shouldnt do that in just 3 weeks. but ive seen it many times. try to charge it, i'll bet its just the battery.

oh yeah and also i forgot to add in that when i open the door the dome light still comes on. so i dont know........maybe theres enough juice to make the light come on but not enough to turn the engine over?

The light takes a lot less power to turn on then a motor does, about 1000x more... Just take your batter and get it tested, how long has it been in the car (the Battery.) Anything over 6years is way too long, 4 years is usual.
