x pipe install help
i should be getting my xpipe tommorrow , but i wont be installing it until this weekend or maybe this week if im lucky. anyways, it comes with all hardware needed to install it, but one question arises. The smog pump that connects to it, is that a simply hose clamp that holds it in place or is there more to it, ive taken down my exhaust many times so i know that the rest should be a breeze, and i have also replaced the gaskets on my headers, so im quite capable for this mod but the only detail that im not sure about is the smog pump line that connects to the pipe.

RE: x pipe install help
The short tube, should be rubber so you can bend it a little. You're exactly right in saying that you cut the Air Tube off an inch behind the bend that goes into the cat. then just put the X pipe in and the rubber tube slids on to the new extension out of the X pipe, and back on to the old air tube where you cut it off. Use some lube to make it easier to slide around and dont forget the clamps. X pipe install reallly isnt too hard but here's some pointers:
First of all, I used to have an o/r h pipe, but switched to x and love it, way better.
Anyway, if you're doing this with the car on jackstands, make sure you have someone helping you lower the stock H pipe because it's heavy as hell. Just disconnect it from the headers, mid tranny mounts, and cat back. Then put the new one in it's place using the rubber hangers (get new ones) and old position.
A helpful hint is to put another jack under the x pipe near the cat back and jack it up into position tucked nicely under the body before tightening the bolts so you dont let it hang to low. That should be all, and should only take an hour and a half if its the first time.
