How Much Head is too Much HEAD?
and no not that kind, i think we can all agree you can never have too much of that! I am just wondering what too much head on a stock 302 is and where the limit would be? i know 165cc is ok what about 185cc or even 200cc? what exactly happens as you move up? more hp and less torque or.....? any knowledge here would be appreciated guys! just trying to figure out what type of set up i should plan 4 ya know.

RE: How Much Head is too Much HEAD?
Well, since no one is answering, I can give you a generic answer. As intake and exhaust port size increases, the optimum point of efficiency (when the engine makes most power) is driven further up the RPM scale. If you have a motor that redlines at 6200 rpms, but your heads are ported too large, you'll never see that optimum power as it resides outside of the limits of the rest of the engine. To a point, when increasing port size, you will gain hp and torque. If ports are enlarged beyond that, you will gain hp at the expense of torque. Beyond that you will eventually reach a point of diminished returns, ie, less torque and hp.
That's my understanding of flow. Hopefully, someone will chime in with a better explanation.
