I say buy whichever car you think you'll ultimately be happier with. You can make either car as fast as you want within reason, so buy which one you like better.

couldn't agree more with that comment, no point in getting a stang if you'd be happier with a T/A (and vice versa).

lookingforastang, you mind toning it down a notch ? ...as much as you made some valid points, there's no reason to start a flame fest about this.

Before I bought the fox, I wanted a SS camaro. I would probibly have one if I could have worked out a trade in with the truck I had at the time. The LS1 F-bodys are awsome, but I can honestly say I'm happier with my fox. The camaro just seemed bulky and almost uncomfortably large from the drivers seat. It wasnt much fun in city driving, but when you got out in the open, it would run!! The mustang I very much enjoy driving in all situations, the car feels nimble as compared. With the few mods I have, I feel ther LS1 wouldnt "dog" me(I'm not saying I wouldnt get beat, cause I would, just not murdered) Both are great platforms with thier own good and bad points. I do have to agree that with AFR165's and a decient cam ($1500 max if you do it yourself) you can kill a T/A. Also, if it matters, I can imagine insurance would be fairly cheaper on a fox

What were the horsepower raings on the camaros and T/A's?

Wern't they like:

1992-1997 = 275 hp
1998-2002 (Z28) = 300 hp
1998-2002 (SS, T/A) = 325 hp

BTW: Ive never seen a H/C/I Fox run slower than high 12's. An (auto) 98-2002 T/A and Camaro will run a high 13 with a descent driver that knows how to lauch without spinning. T/A's are turds off the line because of their weight. So get some slicks and let him sit at the line. That will leave him with a pretty good distance to play catch-up.

Look at my sig. I'm making 325 RWHP/ 330 RWTQ with a intake that stops making power at 5200 RPMs. I have heads and cam that are good to 6500+

Once I get a Probe Spyder intake and 90mm TB I should be in the 350+ RWHP range.

I don't know whats up with all these guys with like ported AFR heads, Huge cams, Huge intakes and custom tunes only making 290-300 RWHP. My freind made that with a Performer Intake, Ported GT40P Heads, 1.7 RR's, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF and the stock cam.

292 RWHP first time on the dyno with no tune.
