Default SIMPLE NOOB QUESTIONS...please help

Hey thanks in advance, I just have a few ?'s that I never was really clear on...here goes!

#1: overdrive or drive? Wats the difference, I heard that overdrive is for fasters speeds while drive is for town cruising and wat not, but overdrive gives u better gas mileage, wat do you guys use?

#2: where can I find out wat kind of gas a 93' GT is designed for/takes. Any reccomendations?

#3: I heard there's a sticker under the hood that says wat you engine should idle at, if not is there a manual online maybe in like pdf form? (Bought the car and the dude didn't have the book)

Again I have a 93 gt hatch and was just wondering a few questions about it before I start throwing miles on it. Answers would be prefered by tonight around 7:00-7:30PM east coast time, going out driving. Thanks in advance, you guys usually gimme some nice info, lookin forward to it!!!

1. overdrive is 4th gear i believe..and the band on it is really weak..so dont use it too often
i only use it on high speeds..like 60+ and have it in drive the rest of the time

2. you can use 87..thats what i use, unless you bump up your timing there isn't a need for higher octane
use what doesn't ping

3. and idk about this one

im sure im missing stuff about them..but hey its a general idea

UHHHH BIG PROBLEM! (at least I think so?) my 93' GT idles a little above 1000, does this mean something bad? Or its just something weird and shouldn't be super paranoid?

And wow guys that was quicker than I thought! Big ups to stevens91gt and beachy90lx!

Ha now if the forum can work its magic again and tell me wtf is goin on at the idle??

Ha well that's good to know, thanks 89GTred! But another quick question...well actually 2?

#1: do you mean unscrew it a little?

#2: not familiar with mustangs or even cars for that matter, so to back off the idle screw, can I find that on the engine map in the tech articles, or could someone tell me where I can locate this?

yes unscrew it a little. it goes throught hte tb. look at the linkage on the tb and where it hits. there is a little screw there just back it towards the rear of your car the the linkage goeas a little farther back, which will craete a lowere idle speed. i could put some pics up if u want.

But you'd be one of my mustang heros if you could post some pics, thanks in advance! Your the best!

Ha sorry man ONE more question, is a high RPM idle bad for the car (again, *warning* I'm new at this lol)

this is a pic of my stock tb. i dunno if thats what you are running but they all have screws in the same location although they may look diff.

anyways the arrows pointing at it if you start your car then adjust it you can hear the idle change as adjusting it. Good luck bro!
