Not bad...pistons are a lil dirty. But not bad..

Why you pull it apart so early. 112K on the clock is nothing for a 5.0...its just warming up.

Oh...say no more....you shoulda seen the inside of my dads old bronco, it had a carb'd 351 in it. haha, well he was trying to show off for some friends one night and ran it down a trail. Bout half way down the engine started smoking, he forgot to put the filter back on it and the carb got a mouth full of muddy muddy swamp water. That was all she wrote.

muddy water will do it, no joke. He got so much dirt in the engine the oil was gritty.

How the cylinder bores look, can you just have them honed?

Did it hurt the crank any? Any deep scratches or grooves in them? or will just a good polish be good?

Well, usually you dont want to bore it unless you absoblutely have to, every bore takes the engines life span and shortens it. A 302 can only go to about .040...racers take them to .060 over...but i wouldnt do it for the street. So if the machine shop says a hone will do..then just hone it.

As far as the crank not being scorn...thats a good thing man, the bearings did their job.

Like racing bearings definatly arnt for the street, racing bearings are harder and wont absorb any grit ingested by the engine. So softer bearings are better for the street because that what their for. To take the punishment instead of the crank.

Good deal man..a polish on a crank is like $30. A hone job should only be about $85, bore and honed is going to run anywhere from about $100-$150.

Id just buy an engine rebuild kit off of Ebay or out of a catalog. Its a good deal, comes with all the gaskets for the engine, piston rings, all your bearings, etc.

And replace the stock oil pump drive shaft with a ARP, thats a good life insurance policy, stock oil pump shafts twist easily.
