how to calculate hp to the flywheel

I made 233 to the wheels, very depressing, but anyway how can calculate how much do i have to the crank, its an auto by the way. Also if it is even possible how do i calculate torque, it was not on the dyno sheet.

help me out

umm is your car stock? what mod's? but i would guess you are making about 275 hp at the flywheel

oh and i figured that by plugging in numbers here http://www.speedworldmotorplex.com/calc.htm i said the car was about 3200 pounds (with driver) and that your trap speed would be about 97.7 miles per hour that gave me the horse power of 233 at the rear and then 275 at the flywheel if your losing 18% in the drive train then i would say about 324.5 at the crank not sure on that though as i just did 275 X .18 then added the 49.5 to the 275 which gave me the 324.5 (you'll also want to include the loss of power do to options like power steering, ac, smog pump, fan/ water pump (if you haven't put an electric fan on although you'll still lose alittle with just the water pump).

RE: how to calculate hp to the flywheel

i doubt your running 324 at the flywheel, if your running 233 at the wheels, stock HP was listed at 225 that's about 180 at the wheels, so i'd guess 275 like stiffy said at the crank, do you have any more info to work with? Mods, 1/4 mile times, 1/8 mile times, 0-60 time, 1/4 mile speed, etc, hard to just convert form RWHP to Flywheel HP with out more info.... sorry.

306, edelbrock performer heads, e-303 cam, hardened pushrods, headers, full exhaust, removed smog pump and fan clutch, (electric fan), msd distributor, bumped timing, 373 gears, 2400 stall, kn filter, and tune. I still have stock intake manifold, throttle body, mass air, and injectors, i know thats hurting me alot but im saving up.

RE: how to calculate hp to the flywheel

rearwheel hp / .82 = crank (aprox) 233/.82= 284 crank hp

crank hp x .18 will give you how much the drive line is taking. subtract that from the crank hp and you will know rwhp

284 crank hp x .18 (18% loss) = 51.12 284-51=233 rwhp
