throw out bearing retainer

Default throw out bearing retainer

I took my trans to get rebult and got all the parts in to day , but when i took him the throw out bearing retainer he said it did not look like the 1 that came out of it , he said that the housing was taller . I checked the box and it said it would work for my , so i called cj poney and thay said it should work but i dont want to hook it all up and the darn thing not work here is a pice of the 1 i got and in red is what is to tall , any 1 know any thing about it?? I would stick with what CJ pony parts recommends. The reason is taht Ford has had some technical service bulletines due to redesigned TO bearings and in one case the retainer.

Is the one from CJ made of steel or aluminum? OEM is aluminum. Steel is better.

Ive havent heard any body have any trouble with the steel retainer. If anything the taller neck will be a better hold that the shorter one.
