should he not becareful because he does not have forged internals?
That was my concern. In theory, I'm hoping to get 400 - 450 HP. I really didn't want to go above that. I thought I could take the easy way out and use S/C + NOS. I know I want the S/C either way. I'm still leaning towards a 6 PSI. But maybe if I can find a decent C/H/I setup for a decent price I would jump on it. Not counting the S/C, I didn't want to spend more than $1,500 - $2,000 for the rest of the engine.
on a stock 5.0L block....? spend the money getting forged internals if you're going to push that much.
C/H/I will do nothing to strengthen the rods or piston heads.

Running that much power is ok on a stock short block, I see it all the time. You just have to remember that the tune is critical and there is very little room for error.

hrm... so after reading the replies...

Is there someplace I can get a semi-decent C/H/I setup as well as getting forged internals for around $2,500?

I've checked a few places online, but all the engine kits I see (for C/H/I) are around $2,500 themselves. Any suggestions where to look?

Once I factor in a S/C to the price tag, I'd probably be better off forgetting about the S/C and buy a new engine that has everything I need! Maybe a stroker for $5 that can push 400 - 450 HP itself w/o a S/C.

But that's getting too far off track.

So it seems like I need. C/H/I and forged internals, and I really don't wanna spend more than $2,500. hrm.. seems kind of impossible unless I hit some junkyards and start digging for GT40P's or something.

You do not need forged internals. You can do a really nice h/c/i supercharger for about $4,500

Honestly, with a blower I would piece together your own h/c/i. Maybe a set of TW's, track heat manifold and a custom grind from comp or somewhere reputable. Than the blower will run you about $1,800 for a novi 1000 with a upgraded pulley.

BUT dont forget about supporting mods (injectors, fuel pump, maf, tb, egr, gauges, afpr, etc.)

I've already been looking at some of the supporting mods. Just gotta wait to see exactly what I'm gonna do before I plop down some $$$ for them in case I change my mind.

As far as the Novi 1000. I've checked them out in the past and if i recall correctly, they won't fit properly in a 94 - 95 GT. I would have to step up a bit to the Novi 2000. Of course, I haven't looked in awhile so I could be wrong.

I was leaning towards a powerdyne (I know I know, a lot of people say they have problems with them.) But a Novi 2000 would be another option.

I may go with what you said though... piece together a setup and mess with it until i get it where I want it. Then just toss a SC on it. Looks like I gotta start working more overtime!!

Hell I've seen a car with a blower, stock cam, TW heads. Put down 450+rwhp. You really don't need to go with a H/C/I combo right away. A decent, intercooled blower set up with a stock head, cam, intake should get mid 300 rwhp and then you can upgrade the other parts as you go. Or do a budget GT40 head, Explorer intake combo and leave the stock cam for now, you should however upgrde the valve springs, the stockers are not really even enough to handle the stock cam.
