Still more MAF problems

The stock sensor will work on any of the Maf meter. It is the sample tube in the maf that is calibrated for the injectors. When you buy a aftermarket maf meter you specify the injector size so it has the correct sample tube in it not the sensor itself. I just put a 80mm maf meter on my car and just put the stock sensor.

94GT5.0, the summit MAF looks like it's good quality. You could always buy a used Pro-M from ebay or the classifieds, that would save you some $$.

Go to the junkyard, find yourself a Lincoln Mark VIII, it will have a DOHC 4.6L. Take the airbox apart, and youll find the MAF. Take the sensor out, and install it into your current housing. The sensor is calibrated for 24# injectors.

The stock parts work because of a MAF Transfer file in the ecu, which corresponds to the MAF/MAS combo. If you change the MAF/MAS, then you must change the MAF Transfer in the computer.
The MAF Transfer is a calibration file, which tells the computer how much air is actually flowing through the MAF tube. If you change the MAF tube and/or MAS sensor without telling the computer (by changing the MAF Transfer), then ALL of the Air Volume and Engine Load calculations will be wrong. In other words the car will run like a$$.
Notice I have said nothing about injector size. This is because in a stock setup the injector settings are made separately from the air flow settings.
ONLY when you deal with aftermarket MAF meters will you see a MAF "calibrated" for an injector size. In reality this is not a calibration. The company producing the MAF modifies the output of the sensor to compensate for the larger injectors (C&L of course does it a little differently). Essentially, the aftermarket meters "trick" the computer in order to get close to a proper AFR. Then it is up to the Adaptive ability of the EEC to fine tune.
I hope I have explained this better. Let me know if I need to clarify.
If you don't mind buying a new MAF then go ahead and pick one up. It sounds like the granatelli MAS will be $$$ to replace anyway.
