hey guys, just currious to what heads i could run on my stock bottom end??? i know 86 had flat top pistons and to put on e7's you need to flycut the pistons or change the pistons but is this true for every head that i could get? or is there some out there that i could put on without changing the pistons or having to cut them?

I ran into this wall a few months back, you can spend some money on Trick Flow heads with their stage 1 cam and everything will have clearance as per Trick Flows representatives. I got my E-7's ported upgraded the springs and threw on some 1.7 rr w the stock cam and have clearance on my 86 block. Other than that if you want to run any bigger heads/cam you have to fly cut. I am not sure about the GT-40 heads you may want to look into them.

i head some people say that with the stock 86 shortblock and e7's the intake valve hits the pistons??? is that true? if it is.. is there any head i could get out there? maybe a gt-40 or a gt-40p?.. maybe even aftermarket? i saw some aluminum heads on e-bay for like 400 bucks bare.. i cant remember what kind they were though.. if i can find them again i will post the link.
