RE: Cant find thrid
lemme clear this up for myself... sorry. What your saying is that when the transmission is in OD, third gear slips, but when the transmission is in D it does not slip? How long has the shift kit been in and who installed it? How many miles are on your car? Does this only happen when you accelerate very hard and aggressively? Does this happen when your calmly cruising through the gears? Try to post as much detailed info as you can.

RE: Cant find thrid
im guessing he dosnt have a shift kit and is 1-D-1 shifting
ur tranny wont last long...
it grabs but your just not shifting fast enough so its over-reving
mine does the same thing.. im 99% positive my tranny is rebuilt so im going to tell you how to properly shift it but dont come back here sayin "my tranny wont go into gear" lol k?
start 1st in 1st.. (duh) put it in D at 3-4k keep at WOT.. it will redline and shift fine into 2nd (might even bark the tires if u got the power). once it hits 2nd throw it back into 1st keep it at WOT and immediatly put it back into D
that is how to properly hold 2nd gear
keep it in 1st untill the last second WILL cause it to slip because the tranny just cant shift fast enough.. its not a manual

RE: Cant find thrid
well the tranny isnt designed for WOT shifting
the lower gears are meant for climbing hills / slowing down faster
a shift kit can change all of that though
im pretty sure my tranny has been rebuilt because when shifted properly it dosnt slip at all. his AOD may be in good working order but i dont believe hes shifting it right or fast enough.. hence why it slips.

RE: Cant find thrid
his sig states a shift kit and sounds like hes slamming from OD to D to hold third gear... "wide open thrid does not grab it slips but if I put it in drive and punch it " but yea you sedscibed 1-D-1 pretty clearly and you have to slam fast to avoid slipping. i dunno what hes trying to do though? o well

RE: Cant find thrid
I tried shifting 1-D-1-D did just fine on the street but not on the track the motor has about 15000 I dont know much about the shift kit I was told that shifting 1-D-1 was bad so I just put in d and punch it now

RE: Cant find thrid
Okay i understand what your doing now, sorry, ok so your at the track and you put the tranny in D and pin the petal the whole length of the track, yea the 1-D-1 is very driver dependant (no offense) and can harm the tranny if not done properly(fast enough), thats what i used to do, but now i just put her in D and get grip then punch it to the floor and hold it there. Good Luck if you do a 5spd swap.
