Where to start

Where to start
I called the guy who I bought the car off of and he brought me the paperwork for the rebuild on the engine and tranny he had his son do at his shop. His son also took the rear apart and had a look at it and said it was fine and replaced the fluid with synthetic. So far the car is stock except for the catback Flowmaster exhaust with the 40 series mufflers. Now that I know the car is in great shape mechanically and I found out that I have a grant for school I have a little over 7 grand left to use. Where do you suggest I start. I was thinking with the gears. I have decided on 3.73:1 and I can have it done for 500 bucks at a friends shop, I know the work will be good and there will be a gaurantee on it for life. I also asked about a H/C/I combo a few days back and was wondering what you suggest.

If your going to do the gears, you might as well get a good posi unit while your at it, trak-lok is garbage and is probly already worn out. If its going to be a daily drive I suggest something like a detroit true-trac.

Im not sure what your refering to with the H/C/I combo but I know that im completely stock except for 3.73 gears and I smackdown my buddy who has a 92 with flows, H pipe, intake, and short shifter...
I would work on the exhaust a little, get those cats outta there and maybe replace some piping... getting some headers, h pipe, and maybe a catback(although it wont do much for you) will allow you to really open it up in the future...
As far as the top end goes... Im a edelbrock, but TW and AFR are probably one of the best... man get a set of heads and a cam and maybe a intake for more throughput and you'll be cooking...

RE: Where to start
My Bassani off road H pipe is in the mail along with my JBA shorties. The reason I went Bassani, I love the Y pipe on my bronco and they have the best customer service department around. They sent me the pipe for a 302 for my bronco which wouldn't fit even though I ordered the one for the 351. The next day there was the right one sitting on my porch and I called and they told me to send the other one back and they will take care of the shipping. I even got 50 bucks off my next purchase which made the off-road H pipe kind of cheap.
