Now onto my next question, how is the timing chain ajustable, and how much would an adverage shop charge to do the work?

If you want to do a common h/c/i swap you can go for the trickflow top end kit.

if you dont got much money.

get heads and intake off a wrecked 98+ explorer and some shorty headers to fit the new heads, they have gt40p heads and cobra style intakes (lucky bastards) pretty cheap to, try not to spend more than 500-700 $

buy some gaskets, a chilton manual, and "barrow" your neighbors tool set, and expect to spend at least a weekend performing the swap. ( if you have no experiance leave it to a shop)

Walla.... 270ish hp at a more sporty rpm.

and more low end torqe to boot.

your stock cam is is 210/210 .444 .444 that more egresive than the explorer cam 206/206 .44 .44 your stock cam should work well as a good all around mild emisions and gas mialage friendly street/strip motor cam.

next save up for a gear swap, get 3.27 or 3.55 for the streat, 3.73 maybe 4.10 for track. stock 5.0 sn95's only came with 2.73 and 3.08 optional.

cool beans, then go pick races with lt1s

and some day when you need to rebuild your motor, get a 331 stroker kit. more torqe and horespower EVRYWHERE
