I saw the GT-40 intake, but wasn't sure about heads. Would you recommend a cam without heads?

Never mind. I did just see he had heads from an earlier post.

If you did the heads I'd think a cam is fine, unless I'm missing something.

Even with stock heads a cam is still a good upgrade, probably one of the best. I built a 79 5.0 with all upper end stuff from my 85, some minor machine work on the exhaust port on the head, a .496/.510 lift 280/292 duration cam and a holley 650 vacuum secondary carb. The thing ran sick, was way faster thana stock stang. I woulda guestimated the power at right around 260/270hp and in a 2500lb vehicle, that makes for 1 quick car. I think you need more fuel.

Impressive. I would have never guessed that was possible.

A B303 isnt going to make a gigantic difference, give it a break. Its more of a duration cam, valves stay open longer. And with 28psi, its not helping things any.

If you want more power, go with a little bit bigger cam.

I would go with a Trick Flow cam, ive heard lots of good things about them. I run a FRPP F303 cam and its got boat loads of power up at the top end, but it is what it is, an older grind cam. Technology has gotten better. Go with a Trick flow or a custom cam next time. Comp has some nice grinds for the 5.0 to.

Shop around a little bit.
