Brake job step by step
 

I am going to install ne rotors, and pads, and I was wondering if someone could give me a step by step procedure, I am new at this.

Don't know how smart you are, but I'm sure that once you take the wheel off you and look at it for a bit, it will come clear to you.</P>


Basically you ...take the wheel off, unbolt the caliper from it's three bolts (you will need a torque bit, so look at the setup first...I can't remember the size -- some places will know what size though) - get a small c-clamp, DONT leave the caliper hanging by the brake-line, prop it up somewhere, then take the c-clamp and push the pistons in, (if you do that, you will clear the new pads and ALSO will not need to bleed the brakes, unless they are all mushy and airy then you should do it to get it right...but if they are ok now, then just c-clamp the pistons back in the caliper. --- the rotors should come off easily...if not use a RUBBER mallet GENTLY all around tapping and they should come off. ----- It's reeeeeal simple....just look at the setup and you'll figure it out.</P>

Thanks for the help, I feel kinda stupid now, I did not know it was that simple. One more question though, How do you bleed the brake system, and could I find the necessary bit at a schucks, or a NAPA?

Don't feel stupid....feel smarter now. The torque bit you can get anywhere at any hardware shop if you dont already have it at home.</P>


For the bleeding, nowadays you can get a self bleeder where you don't need a second person to hold down the brake pedal. Get a manual for your mustang, you can get them at pretty much any auto shop (I don't know where you live but here in FL, we have NAPA, Auto Discount, PEP boys etc...) -- that manual will show you how to bleed the brakes and lots more that you will eventually need. so invest in it.</P>


Bleeding is just getting the air bubbles (the mushiness)out of the lines. </P>
