Default upper door rust? why?

why would a mustang rust here in the doors? im looking at buying this car, seller claims it has no rust anywhere else in the car, just here in the pass side door.

hanging a new door on the car wont be a problem, this is just a weird place to rust, and im worried about other damage, any ideas or info would be great!

Thanks
Andy

Either a hole in the frame or water trapped under the weather stripping.

its obvious waters been sitting there. Probably the water setting under the waether stripping as boss hotrod said. But i would go over that car with a fine tooth comb making sure no more was found. Definatly look around the battery under the hood. And under the car and around the wheel wells.

bad weatherstripping, you can get a new door from a junkyard, or else find another stang, 7hrs away... go on ebay

Remember: When buying a car 99% of the time the car isn't as nice as its owner says it is....jmo. Great Shape means pretty good, and runs great means the body is falling off, etc.

I've seen lots of cars with strange rust locations. I would ask him if he ever parked the car under pine trees a lot. Pine needles can get between the door and body, and seeing as how the passenger door may not have been opened all the time, the moisture gets held there. I have a 2 inch rust spot in the middle of the roof on one of my toyota trucks, and it's original paint, never chipped or scatched in that area. I still haven't figured that one out.

im going to look at another car thursday thats alittle closer to me, 3 hours away. its alittle more money, i know alittle less about it. the car 7 hours away has alittle better paint, a tremec 5spd,and some other small upgrades, the closer car is alittle more stalk, lesser paint quality, and $500 more.

this is the car 7 hours away, intake, tremec, flows, some other odds and ends. it didnt sell on ebay for $2500 opening bid...
