Default High temp Paint VS ceramic coated.

ok so if your headers are painted with high temp paint with ceramic will it hold the heat down like ceramic coated headers? is it basically the same thing? also if not is jet hot a good way to go or..........?

My friend bought his long tubes bare and just painted them with grill paint. Its been a year and its still on there. Looks fine to me. We got the paint from Advanced Auto.

my question is, does this high temp paint with ceramic keep the heat down? not if it will flake off, personally i dont care if the damn things look rusted as long as the temp stays down as claimed by ceramic coating. So anybody else? this paint work or does it need some jet hot coating or what do you guys think? I dont wanna go through the time and money of painting with this stuff and installing it to find out this isnt real ceramic coating and doesnt do shyt for the temp. And no i dont wanna wrap em either i have heard to many bad stories.

My dads camaro, he wrapped his 2" headers and the heat is ALOT less intense. So wrapping isnt always bad.

maybe i will just wrap em, i dunno what the all the negatives are, but i have heard that it will cause pitting, rusting and of course it doesnt look as good. has anyone had good or bad experiences with wrapping? recommend it or not?[&o]

i wrapped a wheeler head pipe, it rotted out in just over a year. high temp paints wont help with temps at all, they just make your header look better. use silicon spray

^+1 on wrapping headers, causing condensation buildup form inside and the headers rot, as for the paint vs. coating its like saying I'm gonna powdercoat something using a $5 can of coating, same principle you get what you pay for, paint w/ ceramic is for looks and just helps the paint resist the heat and flaking/cracing, the ceramic coating dissipates heat and is permanent and functional.
