i know that you guys may not be able to answer this but im hoping someone here may know cause i generally get the best help in this forum ANYWAYS

well i went ot get my tank filled today, they got 6lbs in adn it started to leak right at the collar or the bottle nad the silver top(with the valve nad such) when i got home i took the top off and took the o-ring off the stem that goes into the bottle nad it had the tinyst little tear in it that didant split it or anything just removed a small bit of material. now would that be what was causing the leak cause the tear was right where it occured?? also if i go to checker, get the same size o ring and such is it gunna hold for me?


now im sure this will get moved to another area just hoping ot get a responce first

Thats a possibility. I dont really know about about air tanks.

Yeah trust me I deal with installing all kinds of o-rings on aircraft engines and the smallest cut or nick in an o-ring will cause a leak.

ok now will the o ring that i paid 2$ for 4 of from checker hold up for me?

Probably. What is it made out of? I think you're supposed to put some light oil on it so it doesn't tear when you screw it back on.

uhm... what type of tank is it? dont listen to that guy about the oil on the O-Ring if its an oxygen tank... cause Oxygen + Petroleum = explosion... just an FYI...
