Default Gearing

I have a 1991 Mustang LX, 5.0. It has 355 gears, Timing advanced, K&N, Long Tube headers (H-Pipe w/flowmasters),. What are your opinions on 410 gears. What would these cars top out at? Should I put them in or what. Just want a good working mustang, nothing too retarded right now as other things on the go. But my friend has a set of 410's that he'd give me :-)

is your car auto or manual, auto would be okay on the highway but 5 spd you'll get annoyed with shifting so fast constantly, jmo but 3.55 is good for man, and 3.73 for auto... to each his own though ... good luck with your decision.

Its a personal preference... if you dont do tons of highway driving I would install them wether you have a 5spd or auto.

Well the furthest I would plan on going in the car would be couple hrs away to the drag strip, I don't mind shifting, but what would I be reving at on the highway?

swap for 4.10's and dont look back. i went with 3.73's and was dissapointed, wish i went with 4.10's. but that was then, now with the sc and 3200 stall the 3.73's are fine

I'd stick with the 3.55s and spend the money elsewhere. with my 3.55s at 62mph im at 2000rpm, at 75mph its around 2300 iirc, maybe a touch over.

Well I just picked up a set of FORD 410 gears for the stang, wasn't too impressed with the 355's after driving it for 1 week. So a buddy of mine hooked me up. So I'll probably get them installed within 30 days or so. I was told it takes about 6-8 hrs, I'm fussy so it will probably be about 8....LOL. I would like to take it to the dragstrip first to try and get a quater mile time...LOL
