Default RE: Rebuild or Crate Engine?

btw- when using the ratio method use 305 for a 5.0. a 302 isnt actually 5.0.

and why not do a 347 nomo???? they have fixed all of the oiling problems with them, and there is no replacement for displacement (unless its for high rpm racing).

Bull. You never know what kind of internals they put into crate engines. You can bet your last dollar they buy the cheapest parts they can to turn a higher profit when they sell the engines. The only way to be sure you get high quality internals is to build it yourself, which isn't hard if you have a garage, some time, and a machine shop to do the machine work, and a little bit of mechanical ability and common sense. A quality rebuilt engine is almost always superior to a crate engine. Plus, a rebuilt engine will cost you quite a bit less than a crate engine, especially if you do it yourself. You don't even want the hassle of having to deal with a mail order company if something goes wrong.
