Default Tire Size

Going to go w/ the Chrome OEM 17X9 Cobra R wheels, they recommend 265/40-17 size tires... Would those fit up front? I am just running the stock 16" at the moment and believe they are wrapped in 225's up front.. I have 255's currently in the back.. I just want to go w/ something that doesn't rub when I turn and 265's I feel would surely rub up front, seems aweful wide.. Any input is appreciated!

Sweet... Did you have to make any mods at all up front..? Did they rub at all?

I'd do a 245 or 255/45 in the front and 275 or 285/40 in the rear.

What do you need 265's in the front for?

All that extra unsprung weight is going to make your car's overall handling and steering worse. Also, more weight (especially rotational masses) slows your acceleration and increases your braking distance.

That's the thing.... I don't need/want that big up front but the Cobra R wheel recommeds that size.. I know you don't have to go w/ the recommended size but I didn't even figure they would fit entirely for 1.. I was thinkin 245's up front, 255 max, didnt want to go any bigger...

Anybody know of a good place to get the oem Cobra R's? I don't wanna go w/ a replica rim.. About the cheapest I've found is $240/wheel + shipping.

They always recommend what they're trying to sell. I'd never go larger than 245's in the front, at least not on a street car. Though, w/a 9" wide rim, 245 might look a little goofy. You may have to use a 255. I think a properly tuned suspension is far more effective than just stuffing wide rubber in the wheel wells.
