Default camshaft

so i see alot of people talking about cams all the time, but what is the gain of an aftermarket camshaft? just curious

that all depends on the mods to support it, heads intake , RR, and so on

you should install a cam as a head/cam/intake combo, and those only after an upgraded exhaust system, intake system (TB, MAF, CAI) , but as goose said the gains vary depending on all these other factors

A cam will change the amount of lift (how far the valve opens) and the duration (how long each valve stays open). If you get a cam that goes w/ the parts you have, it will add some power. Not worth it on stock heads, though, unless you've done some work to them.
