NEED HELP ASAP - Distributor Dissasembly?

Me and vigcs are trying to replace my pickup/strator coil and we cannot figure out how to get it out of the distributor. We have the distributor already out but we cannot figure out how to get the plate at the top of the dist. shaft to get to this damn coil... HOW do we get it out??

Maybe you have to pull the gear off the end and pull the shaft out?

OKAY we were able to get the 2 pins out of the gear and the boot... but we cannot get the gear to come out... THE coil is under the plate on top of the distributor but we cannot get to it.... ANYONE???

You should be able to set the dist upside down in a vice. Dont clamp the gear! Rest it so the gear is on top. Take a hammer and tap on the shaft. Its not pressed on its just a tite fit. May have to use something to put on the shaft like a punch!
