17inch cobra rims.. WHAT size tire do i need?

what size tire should i put on my 17'in cobra rims for a 88??? i was thinkn 245 45 17's?

it wont change the gear ratio much will it? cuz its got stock gears and its a 4cyc..

Thats what I run too, came from ford that way. But wouldnt you having 17s on your 88 already change the ratio?

It will only change the ratio if the diameter of the tire is different than stock, if you keep the tire diameter the same on bigger wheels, you will be fine. Tirerack gives you the tire diameters if you look there to get ideas.

I have 235/45 on 17x9 Cobras, and they are an inch wider than the stock wheels I had, and about 1/2 in taller. I used to run a 15x8 with 215/65's. My car is lowered, but they tuck under nice and dont rub at all.
