Default Check engine light! HELP PLEASE ASAP!

I REALLY have to go somewhere. I just replaced the water temperature sender and put a new guage in and now my CEL is on! Ugh, is my engine gonna go into closed loop or am I safe, how do I reset this also?

Ok, so the sender the Autometer came with can't be used? How do I tee off of it? The Autometer guage only requires 1 wire, the stock has 2. Please any help as soon as possible.

Also, why is my cluster temp guage still working? It does't make sense.

the stock cluster temp gauge uses a different sender...I believe it is on the driverside front of the lower intake. The one in the metal hearter lines is the CTS, that is for the computer

The sending unit for the stock coolant temp gauge is on the drivers side of the lower intake. It has one wire. This is the sending unit you want to replace with the autometer unit.

The ECT Engine Coolant Temp sensor has 2 wires and is located on the heater tube on the passenger side of the lower intake.
the ECT sends the temp signal to the computer. Removing this sensor WILL have an impact on how the car runs.

I think you just pulled the wrong sensor instead of the sending unit.

you can also take the plug out of the drivers side rear lower intake and install the new sender there

Can anyone take a low res picture and show me?

I've been driving around with the ect out of the heater line all day. I plugged it back in so that the CEL went out, but it's still out. You guys think anything bad happened to the engine? No pinging, nothing, felt fine, my guess is that it's alright.

About the sending unit- how do I get to it? I have a cobra intake manifold (should be the same layout as stock). Do I need to take the upper off or can I do it without?
