Default throttle plate

i installed a new throttle cable on my 90 5.0 and noticed the pedal felt like it didn't go down as far as the old one, pulled my intake hose and saw that my butterfly was not opening all the way on wide open throttle, should it?

Depends on how much it wasnt open.

Make sure its not binding the cable anywhere, i had this happen before and the cable was getting hung up on the Throttle body. Grease the spring on the cable with a little bit of axle grease so it moves free'er

well i put a new cable on because the old one kept sticking or binding (outer coating was peeling off), the plate only opens about 3/4 throttle, when i take the cable loose the plate will open parallel w/ the throat

is the cable any shorter or longer than the old one.

Id still make sure it isnt getting hung anywhere.

What i did was get my buddy to sit in the car with it off and tap the gas pedal repeatedly while i was watching the cable until i noticed where it was getting hung up. It was getting hung on the bottom of the throttle body, not to mention one time it got binded up on me and was slightly holding the butterfly open, i was going nuts trying to find out why it was idling so high, well it was the cable holding the butterfly a little bit open at idle.

absolutely no hanging, the cable works perfectly, i was just wondering if the plate only being 3/4 on wide open throttle hurts anything, don't want to slow it down-the old cable opened plate all the way. when i think wide open throttle, the butterfly should be open all the way

the butterfly should be open all the way
From what i understand it should be within about an 1/8th inch from completely open. If its 3/4inch from being open somethings wrong.

You sure the cable isnt shorter?

Sometimes those monkeys at the parts store give you all kinds of sh*t thats not right.
