Default Destroyed Motor, looking at new setup

Well I overheated my motor multiple times yesterday trying to go to the track then trying to get back home. Well I get home and pressure test the thing and it has a cracked timing cover and all the gaskets leak. So I'm going to park it for now.

I have a buddy who owns a performance shop and he got me a quote on a rotating assembly and heads. For the scat 331 stroker with srp forged pistons its $900 and for brodix heads its $1150. These are the brodix heads with 2.02 intake valves. I think with this setup with a cam designed for the setup and a victor jr carb manifold I won't have a problem hitting 350rwhp. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for a block, I might go to the junkyard or I might fork over the $500 for a new oem block. What do you guys think?

sry to hear zach, y dont you look at a ford racing short block they make 331 and 347 stroker short blocks. if that scat rotating ***... your looking at is all forged then its pointless to put that in a junk stock block.

The reason I'm looking at the scat setup is because I can get it for cheap. The ford racing short blocks would cost double what I would pay after buying the stroker assembly and having it put together. Rod doesn't get a big discount on ford racing, only about $200 off the short block so I'm going by what would be cost effective right now. The srp pistons have large valve reliefs and with a 60cc head would put me at about 10.5:1 compression.

The guy I'm going through has all the engine machining equipment in his shop. He's only going to charge me for boring the block, magnefluxing it if I get a used one and cleaing. He will assemble and balance it for free. I'm probably looking about 1800 at most for the short block if I buy a new block. I don't think I can beat that.
