The MSD 6A and 6AL are probably the most popular street/strip ignition control boxes. They are the electronic part that controls the spark timing on an electronic ignition. The difference between the 6A and 6AL is the 6AL has a rev limiter built-in if that's important to you, and it costs about $50 more than the 6A. The whole system consists of a control box, a coil, a distributor, spark plug wires, and spark plugs.

The MSD system is just the distributor, coil, control box, and wires (although you can use any good wires). MSD doesn't make spark plugs. The price depends on your application and exactly which parts you want. They have many coils, distributors, control boxes, etc.
Why would you want to set it for one spark per stroke? Why even bother getting a MSD box? The reason it sparks 6 times is for better combustion. Otherwise there wouldn't be a reason to buy one.
