Default 86 mustang

well this might be the wrong place to post this but

im thinking about picking up a 86 mustang that a friend is wanting to sell to me for 1000.00
but it is a basket case

doesnt run at this time but does run
wiring throught the car has been hacked
out side of vehical is poor condition and is purple <---but not badly damaged
interior is ragged out
and some other misc.

just wondering if 1000.00 would be to much for this old of a vehical
or should i purchase it for parts car

i under stand it would help if you guys had picks but i dont
i would rate vehica as a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 7 being a average vehical

thanks for your help

to much....my last 86 was a gift a freebie and it still caost me almost 2 grand to get the thing sorted out replace all the bushing, fix the exhaust replace rear suspension and the car was decent but it was a 1 owner car with 162000 on it, the guy who gave it to me just basically drove it and changed the fliuds, it even had the stock shocks in it, but EVERYTHING WAS WORN OUT and let me tell 85-86 cars not easy to find alot of parts for...i swapped that car to a collecter who wanted the drivetrain/nose/dash/seats for my 91 notch..i was lucky cause he didnt car about the body..but be smart and keep looking..electrical problems are a nightmare and u can find a better car for a few bucks more..trust me...
