Please HELP right now- I need to get to work in the morning!
A bolt broke off in my lower intake manifold. There's about 1/2 of an inch sticking out and we're gonna TRY to take it out right now.
If I mark the EXACT position of the distributor with a sharpie marker, all I need to do is pull out the hold down bolt and pull up the dizzy? Or is there some trick to it? PLEASE answer as soon as possible! Any help appreciated, I need to get to work in the morning!

Also, will I be able to use that line I created to line it up exactly so I don't need to retime it? I have never pulled a dizzy before so I'm terrified after reading everyone's posts.

You should be fine with the mark......(just dont move the dizzy) and even if you are off a tooth.....adjust the spark plug wires over one spot......you should be fine......

Yeah when you make your mark for the dizzy, then pull it out you will notice it will twist as you pull it out (the gear is spiral like). Just make sure when you put it back don't just line up your mark and put it in you will notice it will twist back in and you will be off by one. So put it before your line and it will twist it self to your line.
Don't move your spark plugs one over...just do it like I mentioned and you will be fine.

You'll probaly need to place the rotor on the #1 piston. The easiest way to do this is by taking tha cap off and turning the key for just a second until the rotor travels around to the #1 spark plug. I dont think you can remove the dizzy without the it in this position. Then you need to mark exactly where the rotor is pointing on the dizzy then with a scratch awl or screw driver mark where the dizzy is lining up towards the base where the hold down is. Scratch the base of the dizzy and right in front of it on the block. Do not yank on the dizzy by the TFI or cap. loosen it with a wrench, then you can slide it out. remember it doesnt come straight up. If your trying to pull it straight up its going to be hard. It twists so twist the dizzy and it will slide up.
Good luck.
Good luck.

You could also take the Cap off, mark where the rotor is. Mark the base of the Dizzy at the base where it meets the block. Then just put it back in so the marks you made line up. Just don't turn the engine over... But the other ways mentioned will work too.
