ORIGINAL: 86 5.0L

ORIGINAL: mrbigshot

350 at the crank. about 275 give or take at the wheels. its a good value for the money if you want to stay fuel injection. if you went carbed a 650carb, weiand stealth intake, stock 5.0 shortblock and cam, afr 165's, good headers, and 1.7 rockers made 400hp
not true on a stock 5.0

NOTE: Kits were dyno-tested on a 306 cubic inch engine with 9.5:1 compression, a 70mm throttle body, 24lb injectors, 190 lph fuel pump, mass air, and 10° base timing.
4ci wont change hp, and the 70mm tb will ad at most 2hp. 65mm will suport 500hp. the rest is so the car doesnt go lean and gernade. stock compression is 9.2:1 and the smaller chamber on the heads make it 9.5:1

I still doubt 350HP at the crank, on a tired stock 302 [&:] I'll see in a couple of months once I get the TF street heat kit and bolt it on my stock 302

How much would it cost to get the pistons notched? I dont see why not do it if i can squeeze more power out by going with 185s.

the 165's will make better torque on a milder engine.

With aftermarket what is NOT easy is figuring out what you can really use.
I did some looking a few months ago and came up with 50+ differant heads for 5.0's ......
There are probably more.....
The aftermarket SBF head thing started about '67-'68 with the Gurney-Westlake' heads and has gone on from there......

Man, your right about figuring out what you can use....with all the word of mouth advertising on here Trick Flow, Edelbrock and AFR shouldnt even have to spend money on advertising anymore

Good to know and that's a good alternative to consider.

You don't hear as much about them as you do the others.
