roll cage/ NHRA rule question
ok i have a 95 convertible and the roll cage time is 13.5, so my question is, how many points do i need 6 or 8? and is it possible to keep the rear seat and being a convertible where do the rear bars that go into the trunk weld to, i heard its possible to keep the top in working order too where would i need to place the rear bars to come in contact with the frame to keep it so it will go down still? and any other information u might have would be nice too thanks

RE: roll cage/ NHRA rule question
I have a 88 with a 10 point cage in it. Mine is NHRA Certified to 7.99. I am not sure about the rules on how many points you need to have to go to a specific speed. Try googleing "NRHA RULES CONVERTIBLES".....I will do it right now too......

RE: roll cage/ NHRA rule question
Condensed Excerpts from the 2006 NHRA Rulebook:
All windows must be present and in good condition (free of cracks). Cars must run with all windows up, sunroofs and T-tops closed. Convertibles must run with the top up. (Note: Convertibles running 13.99 or quicker must be equipped with an NHRA-legal five-point roll bar. Consult our Tech Crew.)
4.5 ROLL BAR
Roll bar mandatory in all cars running 11.00 (*7.00) to 11.99 (*7.49) and in convertibles running 11.00 (*7.00) to 13.99 (*8.59), and in dune-buggy type vehicles running 12.00 (*7.50) seconds and slower. Permitted in all cars. See General Regulations 4.10, 10.6.
4.6 ROLL CAGE
Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker, or any car exceeding 135 mph (217.2 km/h). Full bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted), running between 10.00 (*6.40) and 10.99 (*6.99) roll bar permitted in place of roll cage. Cars running between 7.50 (*4.50) and 9.99 (*6.39) must have chassis inspected every three-years by the ASN and have a serialised sticker affixed to cage before participation. Must conform to specs for body style used, as listed in General Regulations 4.11, 10.6.
I can run mine with the top down....if I have arm restraints with me.

RE: roll cage/ NHRA rule question
The rules say 5 point because they don't require a passenger side door bar. But good luck finding a 5 point kit. And I've never seen just a 5 point in person. I've seen extra bars on the driver side, but never without something on the passenger side.
