Default Emissions question

This might be a stupid question...but......Is it possible to pass an emissions test without a smog pump?

I would guess no, since the smog pump works by pumping air into into the exhaust manifold to burn hydrocarbons in an effort to reduce emissions, midpipes affect passing the test too. Good Luck either way.

It will depend on the CATs you have, and if a visual inspection is done.

The old skewl cats that were installed on our cars were pretty low tech. The air pumps were required to improve efficiency and durability.

The new cats that are on the market today are almost always sold as "non air pump" cats, and will not require fresh air.
Just make sure you know what kind of cat you are buying, or currently have.

I just fought to get my 2.3 to pass WA emissions without installing a cat.
Don't waste your time with that. Nothing I tried (additives, timing, etc) made any significant difference.
With the new cat in place I breezed through.

i have a 5.0 and i removed the smog pump and still had the old cats on it (i think, they still had the tubing for the smog running threw them so i'm assuming they did) and i passed my emmisions just fine.

I'm not too sure what kindof test they do here. I currently dont have to have it cuz the county im in, but i am moving within the next 8 months, and i'm not too sure what county, either the one i'm in, or the next one over. But the other one requires a emissions test, i'm not toos ure why, cuz its like the 4th largest amish settlement in the world. I'll look into it more. Thanks for all the input
