1992 Cougar (I do own 2 Mustangs so don't kill me)
Hi everyone
Anyone here know the difference (if any) in the 302HO in the 1992 cougar's compared to a mustang? I found one with really low miles for really cheap & I'm wondering if this engine is any good? Does it have mass-air? I have looked online a lot but it doesn't seem to mention if it does or not.
If anyone does know anything about this I am also curious if the AOD tranny is the same? What about the track lock axle?
this link is the most info I really could find on the car.

Thanks
Darcy

Thanks for the reply though, I can't find any evidence of the engine in 1991-1993 Cougars being different then stangs its rated @200HP so it is rated a bit less I think the exhaust manifolds are different (I don't think they had factory headers like the stangs) they came with an AOD and this one even has rear disk brakes!

yea i had a 89 mark VII that i was gonna swap the disc brakes to my stang but i ended up selling it. It also had the 5.0 HO but i dont know if it was rated any diff. I was also gonna keep it around for a parts car if i ever had any engine probs. It did have a different intake plate though... sure rode nice with the air bags though man o man...

i got a 92 t-bird sport with the 5.0ho... i am pretty sure all that is different is the intake on the motor and the exhaust.. yes it is a maf car.. but the exhaust has 2 Y pipes so the exhaust is much more restrictive.. and the intake manifold is like that of a sn95 mustang gt. i put a flowmaster cat back exhaust a cold air intake and bumped the timming to 14 degrees on mine and i dynoed like 181 hp and 269 ft lbs of torque at the wheels.

It is indeed the same engine. The power loss is in the crappy exhaust manifolds, and in the intake manifold, which is shorter, and has an elbow on it, similar to the SN95.

my 1992 t-bird had stock tubeular exhaust manifolds.. just like the stock ones on my GT.. i think the angle of the collecter might be different.. but i think the main difference is that it has a dual Y-Pipe exhaust.. with 3 cats.. a resonator.. and 2 big mufflers..
