Default which of these heads should i get

Its going to be about a 350hp n/a carb'd 308 with a 175hp shot on it from a NX plate system. Im going to be running an Isky 270Mega flat tappet hydraulic cam with (non roller block) .517/.517 lift 232*/232* 0.050 and 108* lobe sep. THen some Mac shortie headers, and a Parker Funnelweb intake and a Holley 4150 600cfm carb. And this engine will not be spun past 6,200rpm and it will be hooked to a 5speed with 3.73's.

Which heads would work best? Im running aftermarket forged pistons so they're notched for large valve.

Im only wanting to spend about $1,200-$1,400. I will buy used if i have to.

to ask tha ? with out ya specs is redundant...afrs are great..but not allways best 4 hp on a given motor..i had 165s and edelrock rpms ported..i made 21 hp more with edelbrocks...why becuze 4 the$ on afr i could get edelbrocks bought and ported..i flow more then 165s to.. afrs are good but unless you have delt with a few of the diff brands i say to twll some1 afrs are best or edels or brodix.. is just a opinion...

Oh i can port heads. Ive done tons of them and i do it part time now, welder mon-fri and part time head porter in my shed on the weekends.

Gotta make some side cash to fix the stang up somehow, and this is my money the lady friend doesnt know about

I mean i can port them, but if im spending $1200+ on a set of heads, then dammit they better be good from the box, for that money i shouldnt have to touch them.

i voted for the roush 200's.. just cause not many people use them.. but.. everybody i have heard that have used them... loved them to death.. said they were one of the best heads out there in there opinion.. and i know there cast iron.... but as far as aluminum heads disperseing heat better it's true.. but cast iron head retain it better.. so that means more heat goes out your exhaust.. and.. not into your underhood are.. thus making your engine bay cooler... but hey.lol. maybe i am way off.. i am actually looking at some used roush 180's that i found for sale.. the guy wants 500 bucks for them and theywere just rebuilt.. had about 12,000 miles on them before the rebuild... just gonna buy them and sit on them i think till i get my stroker kit in next winter and then throw them on... but hey man.. get what you want.. lol. just voteing for the underdog.

Yea i like them to. Ive heard nothing but good about them either. I dont care if theye aluminum or iron. doesnt mean much to me, im not a full blown racer.

But just curious, those 180cc's your talking about are they the ones on Ebay by any chance?

nah, i just saw some on there and the guy thats selling them is like about 10 min away from me. lol. I think he wants like $485 or something around there for his, completely assembled and rebuilt. They came off a 408. I would rather have the 200cc's though, thats the ones i would get if i got them, i could reuse them on a variety of engines with ports that large...im always digging up projects...[:-]
