i dont really want to put a big block in it yet, and this car is kind of like my expieriment because ive never built a car before and if i do this then ill know what to do with my 88 GT (like what parts worked good what gave me the most bang for the buck ect...)

The Clevelands not a big block. Its a little wider than a 351W with about the same height on it. They're power houses when built.

RE: how do i get?
oh sorry i was talking about a 460 thats why i have been looking for a 351 because i think switching to a 460 would be too much work and not worth the time and money on my daily driver so your saying the 351 clevland is better than the 351w? oh and the only reason i was looking for a boss or cj block is because i read that they could handle more horsepower

Your still going to need, headers, oil pan, little larger hood, all the usuals associated with a 351W swap.

RE: how do i get?
you better do some serious chasis modification before you even venture above 500hp, and with a stock block 450 hp is about as much as she can take. You'll need a 351W bored and stroked to get high 600's or low 700's, as for 800hp.... you'll need to rob a bank to afford it.... i would anyways... maybe a Twin turbo bored/stroked to 428 (351 big block) w/ a 200 shot ...maybe

Have any of you ever built a turbo car? At least owned one? Turbos are the BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK! Period. If you boost a 351 to 30 lbs youll be over 1000hp - EASY! Theres a guy with a 2.3 ranger pumpin 42lbs. of boost, it runs LOW 7's. So I would imagine that a 5.8 with 20lbs should be a force to be reckoned with. I had a 2.3 turbo car, I fiddled around with the waste gate to make it pump 35 lbs. THere was NOTHING I ran across in that car that I couldnt stomp. Even if they got 5 car lengths off the line. Granted the motor didnt last long, but then again it wasnt intercooled either and the car was COMPLETLY stock other than how much boost it was pumpin.
Heres the theory behind forced induction - for every 1 atmosphere you pressurize (14psi, I believe), its like doubleing the displacement. So @ 28psi your 5.8 would theoretically be a 17.4L . And building a 800hp motor isnt gonna cost you any where near 40k. Maybe 15 though, a GOOD twin turbo kit -$6k, crank rods and pistons - 3k, heads - 3k?, intake sytem 3k. Then of course youll have all the tuning costs.
But like someone mentioned before, youll have to build a chassis that can withstand all that power. Otherwise, after your first pass the left front tire wont touch the ground. I think thats where all the big bucks will come in.
