Default GT-40 question (upper but no lower :()

So I have a GT-40 upper intake from a '97 (or maybe 96) Mountaineer. Problem is that I don't have a lower! So I'm wondering if the GT-40 upper will fit on a GT-40p lower, or if that's just a dumb idea. I'll either be getting one from a junkyard or ebay, so I'd like to know what my options are. Thanks

I believe....i could be wrong...but i think they'll bolt up to a Cobra lower.

If you got it off of a 96-97 explorer/ mountaineer then it is on a GT40 P engine.

Oh, I thought the 98+ had the P's, I'll have to take a look at it (it's at my dad's since my apartment doesn't have a garage).

Thanks

No difference in the uppers besides the fact for the EGR pasage I believe. If you're not running an EGR then you don't have to worry since the bolt pattern and runners are in fact the same.

just google it. Its my understanding the explorer intake had something different with the EGR or whatever, but the lower should work fine.
I could be wrong here. Im sure somebody on here can tell you for 100% proof positive

Nothing changed in the intake from the GT 40 to the GT 40 P's as far as I know.

If you got it off of an explorer/mountaineer it's probably not a GT-40 upper intake.

GT-40's look like this:

Actually Scout The Explore intake is called a GT40. They are matched to the Gt40 heads. Even though it's not the technical term for it, people know it as a GT40 intake. To be more technical It's more like the Cobra Intake.

Or you can call it what it is, an explorer intake without the fancy plaque that comes with the cobra ones. GT-40 intakes and THAT intake are different, as you can plainly see.
