I good paint job should cost $1000 in materials alone. And that's if you're not changing the color, neither. Most people don't know what has to be done to paint a whole car. I doubt that Maaco is going to take off any mirrors, belt molding, trim, sid mouldings, lights, etc, etc, they just tape it off and it'll look like ***. I've seen their prep work too. We had a car come in and the paint was all peeling and underneath looked like it was hardly scuffed. **** poor.

I had my 88 notch painted there and paid close to $1000 and the paint lasted 6 months before it started peeling off the car. I just had a body guy come over and he is a excellent painter and body man (I sold him my 88 and it is awesome now) and I am getting my whole car done engine bay, body work, sheet metal work for $2500

I wasnt trying to attack you just wanting to warn people that the maaco shop i have dealt with was garbage! And not to pay any extra cause you still gonna get that garbage paint job.[:'(]

Id save up some extra money and go to a paint shop. Paint jobs range from 450$ to ~9000$, and you get what you pay for. Aim for somewhere in the middle (3 or 4k), and you will be happy.
