Default 90 LX Not as fast as it should be?

I bought a 90 LX 5.0 a couple months ago. Mods: Balanced and rebuilt 302 bored to 306, minor ported heads, KB pistons, aftermarket cam (trick flow stage 1, I think), new ford 1.6 roller rockers, long tube headers, h-pipe, flowmasters, K&N open filter, alum. driveshaft, b&m ripper shifter, 3 core radiator, flex lite fan (which I know is killing hp), new water pump, new melling high vol oil pump, new harmonic balancer, 4.10 gears, arp head bolts, energy susp. motor mounts, new plugs and wires, zoom clutch. Several other parts replaced, everything has about 1,500 miles now. All the work was done at D&L automotive in Clearwater, Fl and I have the receipts for most of the parts. It still has the stock intake manifolds. Cam specs are Lift: intake @cam 312 @valve 499, exhaust @cam 319 @valve 510 (trick flow stage 1...right?).

It feels slower than I expected. Although I'm used to my 300rwhp 240rwtq twin turbo Rx7 weighing 2700lbs, which has a total different powerband. So I raced my brothers 94 GT (stock engine with intake, H-pipe, and flowmasters) today. We went from a roll, because his tires are bald. He pulled about a car length or better from 20-100mph, both of us hooked up. There is no way that should have happened considering our modifications...right? Stock hp on the 90 is 225 and 215 for the 94, right?

Anybody have an estimate on how much horsepower our cars should have? What are the symptoms of a blown head gasket? I know my car should be faster. [sm=dontgetit.gif] Thanks for your time!

-Brad

Thats what the seller told me. I'm still learning about piston engines, don't know much about boring.

the only thing i can't think of is that either some of the mods don't mesh together and is causing less hp since they aren't working well together. Or something is seriously wrong... do you have the receipt for the gears i know you said everything but I would honestly check them cause even from a roll with those gears if you slammed the pedal down you should have lost traction... Ok and is this an auto car ( the b&m Ripper shifter made me think that correct me if i'm wrong)

No, it is a manual. No receipt for the gears, but i'm pretty sure they are 4.10. The rear tires are brand new. But I agree, I should lose traction alot more than I do. It hooks pretty good from a stop even. Keep the replies coming. Im tired and wife is calling me to bed for the night.

Thanks!

your prob only making 240hp at the wheels. i would still consider your engine stock or warmed up a little.

ok you want to factor in some of this 1.) the gears find out for sure if they are 4:10's 2.) tire size (ex. a 14 will spin more then a 15 and a 15 will spin more then a 16 etc) A smaller tire will also help with things like acc and larger will help top speed ( smaller less turns to make full circle larger more turns to make full circle and so on) 3.) is something wrong with the motor 4.) did i do something wrong that slowed it down. 5.) Am I just nuts!!!!

another thing do a burn out rev the motor dump the clutch and see if she falls flat on her face if not maybe it'll clean out some of the cob webs and wake her back up lol

I agree. I'm not expecting it to be super fast. However, I do believe it should be faster than my brothers 94 considering my rebuilt engine and mods.

Uhm... Something doesn't seem right here w/ that car.

I'm only speculating . . . but you might need to rebuild your posi (my posi went bad eventually killing my e.t.s,) I'm sure a reputable performance mechanic could tell you wether or not you have 4.10s by looking at your pinion as the 2.73 pinion have a ton of space between it's teeth compared to the smaller (3.55/3.73) pinions. I had a similar setup on my notch -- bone stock minus the e-cam/exhaust/3.73s/fresh clutch and went 14.0s @ 101 having to pedal it to keep it from fish tailing. I'd take a look at the rear first/clutch/if all checks out then i'd find a new engine builder.

no reciepts = no truth

you can only tell whats new by looking at it without receipts

thats why i dont like buying modified cars
